What is DTF?
DTF (Direct to Film) is one of the most innovative and versatile textile marking techniques on the market today. It is a digital transfer process that allows high-quality designs to be printed on virtually any type of fabric.
The process works as follows: first, the design is printed in color on a special transparent film using textile inks. Immediately afterward, while the ink is still wet, a hot-melt adhesive powder is applied that adheres only to the printed areas. This film is cured using heat in an oven or drying tunnel, fixing the adhesive. Finally, the design is transferred to the garment using a heat press by applying heat and pressure for a few seconds, and once cool, the protective film is removed, leaving the design perfectly adhered to the fabric.
This technique has gained great popularity because it combines the best of several worlds: the creative freedom of digital printing, the application versatility of traditional transfer, and professional finishes with excellent durability. It is especially valued by textile customization companies, merchandising stores, and screen printing workshops looking to diversify their services without large investments in complex machinery.
